He played college football at Pennsylvania State University and three seasons in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers (1947–1949). Moore captained the Penn State Nittany Lions football team in 1946. He died on his 89th birthday in 2011.〔()〕 ==Coaching career== Moore was the head college football coach for the Allegheny Gators located in Meadville, Pennsylvania. He held that position for 4 seasons, from 1954 until 1957. His coaching record at Allegheny was 11 wins, 19 losses and 2 ties.
